 Qualifications and Experience in Lead Services

The staff at Environmental Testing & Management, Inc. (ETM) has been providing professional industrial hygiene consulting services since 1980. Included in these services are inspections for lead-based paint, design of lead-based paint abatement projects, and management of lead-based paint abatement projects as a representative of the building owner. In addition, ETM provides background and clearance testing for lead using the wipe sampling methodology as described in the HUD protocols. Finally, ETM provides air monitoring for lead to meet the OSHA requirements.

The staff at ETM has conducted inspections for lead-based paint in commercial, residential and public buildings as well as industrial facilities. These inspections typically consist of a visual examination of the facility, sampling those surfaces suspected of having lead-based paint, analysis of those samples and reporting of the inspection results. Recommendations can be made for the appropriate operations and maintenance activity or, if needed, abatement of the lead-based paint.

We have also been actively involved in the design of lead-based paint abatement projects. ETM can provide consulting services to oversee the lead-based paint abatement project and to monitor the abatement contractor's compliance with the project specifications and applicable state and federal regulations. This is especially important to the building owner to insure that the lead-based paint removal is proceeding properly and the owners liabilities are minimized.

As professional industrial hygienists, ETM also conducts air sampling for lead at abatement projects. The air sampling program is under the direction of a Certified Industrial Hygienist. ETM has a rigorous quality assurance testing program and only works with AIHA (ELPAT) accredited laboratories for the analysis of its lead samples.
