Mold and moisture investigations: We work to identify the sources of water intrusion and the conditions that may contribute to indoor mold growth.  We evaluate building materials, moisture migration pathways, humidity conditions, and visible signs of water damage.  The goal of our investigation is to help property owners, facility managers, and occupants understand the underlying causes of moisture-related problems and develop practical corrective actions.

Mold air and surface sampling: ETM performs sampling to help evaluate indoor environmental conditions and document the presence and extent of fungal contamination where appropriate.  Sampling strategies are developed based on building conditions, occupant concerns, moisture findings, and the objectives of the investigation rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.  Services may include airborne spore trap sampling, tape lift, or bulk sampling.  Laboratory results are interpreted in conjunction with the site inspection and moisture assessment findings to provide meaningful, scientifically defensible conclusions and recommendations.

Remediation planning: Our experts provide remediation planning services to help owners, facility managers, and contractors address mold and moisture problems in a safe and effective manner.  Recommendations are developed based on the findings of the investigation and may include containment considerations, material removal guidance, engineering controls, and moisture correction measures appropriate for the project conditions.  We can also assist with developing written remediation scopes and providing independent oversight during remediation activities to help verify that work is being performed in accordance with project objectives and recognized industry practices.  ETM can also provide post-remediation evaluations and clearance testing to help assess whether remediation goals have been successfully achieved.

Chemicals and other indoor air quality concerns: Not all IAQ complaints involve mold; some are based upon unknown odors present in an area or a general consensus of poor IAQ or air movement.  The indoor environment is subject to multiple sources of odors:

• Carbon dioxide from combustion products
• Formaldehyde from material off-gassing
• Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from a variety of sources
• Radon
